Event Introduction
In recent years, the Pakistan - China B2B Investment Conference series has emerged as a flagship platform for advancing bilateral economic cooperation under CPEC Phase-II, following the visit of Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shehbaz Sharif to Shenzhen (China) in June 2024. Led by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, in coordination with its Consulates, the initiative is aimed at promoting direct business-to-business (B2B) engagement and leveraging the infrastructure and connectivity developed under CPEC Phase-I to deliver concrete, sector-specific economic outcomes.
The inaugural conference in Shenzhen (June 2024) brought together over 300 Chinese companies and facilitated more than 1,000 B2B meetings. Building on this success, subsequent engagements—including six sector-focused B2B events across China—have facilitated nearly 800 business meetings and engaged over 500 Chinese companies. The second flagship conference in Beijing (September 2025) further scaled this model, attracting 623 Chinese companies and generating over 3,500 B2B meetings, firmly establishing the platform as a key driver for Chinese companies expanding into Pakistan.
In 2026, this momentum has been sustained. The Embassy successfully organized a B2B Investment Conference on Agriculture on 19 January 2026 in Islamabad. An upcoming conference on Home Appliances, Electrical Equipment, and Battery Energy Storage is scheduled for 8–10 May 2026 in Lahore, followed by a planned B2B Conference on Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, and Biotechnology in June 2026 in Karachi. These initiatives are being implemented within the framework of the Embassy’s broader sectoral strategy, which has identified 21 priority sectors based on Pakistan’s comparative and competitive advantages vis-à-vis China, taking into account natural resource endowments, industrial capacity, and market complementarities.
The current B2B conference, holds on the sideline of the PM’s visit, is set in the city Hangzhou, "Silicon Valley of China". As the headquarters of Alibaba Group and a global hub for digital innovation, the city exemplifies China's leadership in e-commerce, fintech, smart cities, IoT, and AI-driven industries, providing an unparalleled environment for fostering meaningful B2B collaboration.
The conference will focus on eight carefully selected sectors aimed at enhancing complementarity between Pakistan and China. These sectors are as follows:
i. Fintech
ii. E-Commerce
iii. AI Cloud Computing
iv. Cyber security
v. Mobile Phones, Laptops &Handheld Devices (manufacturing)
vi. Telecommunications - (towers, optical fibers, routers, etc)
vii. Gaming & Animation
viii. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
Key Features
A key feature of this Conference is the careful prioritization and matching of enterprises based on concrete proposals and clearly defined business requirements. This targeted approach is further supported by a series of pre-conference online orientation sessions, as well as sector-wise virtual engagements between Pakistani and Chinese companies to align expectations and explore potential areas of collaboration. These preparatory efforts are designed to facilitate meaningful outcomes, including the announcement and signing of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during the Conference.
