Consulate General of Pakistan, Hong Kong

 

Introduction

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Hong Kong commenced its operations in 1997, transitioning from its former role as a trade commission. The Consulate plays a pivotal role in managing trade, investment, education, cultural and consular matters within its jurisdiction, which includes Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan (for visa purposes only and for matters pertaining to Pakistanis in Taiwan). The combined GDP of Hong Kong and Macao for the year 2023 was approximately $427.85 billion USD; Hong Kong GDP approximately $382.05 billion USD, Macao GDP around $45.80 billion USD. In terms of consular services, the Consulate General processes passport and visa applications (both manual and online), birth registrations and various legal documents, catering to the diverse needs of approximately 43,000 Pakistanis living in Hong Kong. This strong community serves as a vital link between Pakistan and the region, highlighting the importance of the Consulate's work. The Consulate General also promotes cultural, educational and tourism related activities and engages with the Pakistan community, particularly through social media platforms such as as Consulate General’s official website, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram. Regular communication with Pakistani students in Hong Kong is also maintained on a dedicated WhatsApp group.
