Science and Technology (S&T) cooperation is a vital component of the multifaceted partnership between Pakistan and China. The foundation for this collaboration was established by the landmark agreement of 1976, which paved the way for more frequent high-level interactions, personnel exchanges, joint research initiatives, scholarship opportunities, capacity building programs, and establishment of joint labs.
The Science & Technology (S&T) Wing of the Pakistan Embassy, Beijing was established in October 1990 to further facilitate the S&T cooperation. Main responsibilities of the S&T Wing include fostering S&T cooperation across agriculture, IT, energy, industrial automation, environment protection, water conservation and health sectors. The Wing endeavors to promote shared priorities for sustainable development by harnessing partnerships and collaboration between public sector institutions, private enterprises, think tanks and universities of the two countries. Over the years, the Wing has been instrumental in contributing to China Pakistan cooperation in human resource development.
