TVET Forum and Job Fair

The China–Pakistan Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Forum is another flagship initiative launched by the Embassy of Pakistan in 2024 to promote structured cooperation in skills development, workforce readiness, and employability. The Forum aims to establish sustainable linkages between technical and vocational institutions of Pakistan and China, while aligning training outcomes with evolving industry needs.

The inaugural TVET Forum, held on 19 December 2024, brought together over 500 participants, including representatives from Chinese vocational colleges, Pakistani provincial Technical Education and Vocational Training Authorities (TEVTAs), industry stakeholders, and relevant government institutions. Convened under the theme “Fostering a Skilled Workforce: Forging a Brighter Future”, the Forum underscored the importance of TVET as a driver of inclusive growth, industrialization, and human capital development.

Senior officials from the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security participated as keynote speakers. Discussions highlighted the role of TVET cooperation in supporting high-quality development under CPEC 2.0, with a particular emphasis on skills aligned to modern industry requirements.

Building on the success of the inaugural edition, the TVET Forum in 2025 adopted a more focused and practical approach, with sector-specific sessions and a strong emphasis on industry–academia collaboration in the agricultural sector. The 2nd edition prioritized engagement with enterprises, training providers, and applied institutions to promote demand-driven skills development, enterprise-led training models, joint curriculum design, faculty exchanges, and workplace-based learning. The title for the Forum held on 23rd December 2025 was Fostering Skills and Talent in Agriculture through Academia-Industry Collaboration”.

By narrowing the focus to selected economic sectors and directly involving industry partners, the Forum sought to move beyond dialogue towards implementable cooperation, enabling vocational institutions in both countries to better respond to labor market needs and contribute to sustainable economic development.

The China–Pakistan TVET Forum continues to evolve as a platform for advancing skills cooperation, supporting employability, and strengthening people-to-people connectivity between Pakistan and China.

Job Fair for Pakistani Students and Professionals in China

In addition to the TVET Forum, the Embassy of Pakistan co-organized the first of its kind Job Fair for Pakistani Students and Professionals on 11 January 2026, aimed at enhancing employability outcomes and strengthening linkages between skilled Pakistani talent and Chinese enterprises operating in Pakistan and the region. The Job Fair was the first initiative of its kind and witnessed strong participation, with nearly 2,000 attendees joining both online and onsite, and a total of 372 registrations by Pakistani students and professionals. Several leading Chinese State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), including major investors under CPEC, participated in the event and conducted initial short interviews with candidates based on submitted CVs.

The Job Fair complemented the objectives of the TVET Forum by providing a practical employment-oriented platform that bridged skills development with real market opportunities. Following the event, the recruitment drive entered its next phase, whereby shortlisted candidates are being contacted individually for further interviews and final selection based on their onsite interactions and submitted credentials. The initiative underscored the Embassy’s commitment to moving beyond capacity building towards tangible employment pathways, while reinforcing industry–academia–talent linkages as a core pillar of Pakistan–China cooperation. The Embassy plans to enlarge the scope of such endeavours in the near future.
