Delivery and Commissioning Ceremony of Second Type 054 A/P Frigate PNS TAIMUR held in Shanghai

The delivery and commissioning ceremony of PNS TAIMUR, the Second 054 A/P frigate of Pakistan Navy, was held at Hudong Zhonghua (HZ) Shipyard in Shanghai on 23 June 2022. The PNS TAIMUR is 2nd of 4 x Type 054 Frigates being constructed for Pakistan Navy. The first one was delivered in November 2021.
 
In his welcome remarks during the ceremony, the head of Pakistan Navy Mission overseeing the construction of 054A/P Frigates, Commodore Rashid Mehmood Sheikh appreciated the Chinese side for timely delivery of the ship to Pakistan Navy and holding of an impressive ceremony amid the covid related situation. He further highlighted that PNS TAIMUR being a multi-mission capable Frigate is technologically advanced and will bolster Pakistan Navy’s maritime defence capabilities. The PNS TAIMUR is equipped with state-of-the-art Combat Management and Electronic Warfare system alongwith modern self-defence capabilities.
 
The commissioning of the PNS TAIMUR marks a landmark in China-Pakistan bilateral defense cooperation which will further deepen the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two brotherly countries.
 
The ceremony was attended by the senior officials and representatives from CSSC, HZ Shipyard, BOMETEC, PLA (N), alongwith officials of Embassy of Pakistan Beijing and Consulate General of Pakistan Shanghai.
